(Thymus vulgaris)

Thyme was introduced into Central Otago in the 1800s by a French gold miner (possibly by Chinese miners as well), the plant then 'escaped' from cultivation & as it's disliked by animals it has spread without challenge. As well as being used in the kitchen thyme is used medicinally to support multiple body systems, eg respiratory, digestive & nervous system as well as supporting the immune system. Flower colour ranges in shades of pink in summer. Intense flavor. Wild sourced. Cold hardy. Full sun. Well drained soils. Ht. 40cm
