(Salvia sclarea)
A large shrubby plant with pink flowers & purple-green bracts. Aromatic young leaves are used to flavour soups and casseroles. Seeds are soaked in cold water to form a mucilage, which can be used to remove small particles from the eyes - hence its name 'Clear Eye' or Clary. Add the dried chopped young leaves to potpourri. The bright olive green essential oil is an excellent fixative. Plants grow best in well drained soil in full sun. Perennial. Ht 60cm
