(Ribes uva-crispa) A hardy, heirloom that is genetically linked to the orgininal plants brought to the Macraes area (Otago) by the Chinese during the goldrush in the 1860's. An easy to grow, hardy shrub for any garden with flavourful green-pink hairy fruit when ripe. Excellent for pies, jam or freezing. Ripens December-January. Prune bushes annually to maintain a goblet shape.  Moist but well-drained, fertile soil. Frost hardy.  Full sun for best fruiting. Deciduous. Ht. 1.3m
