Native of North America with strong, sweet-scented foliage that can be used in fruit cups, fruit salads and either fresh or dried for brewing an aromatic tea. From early summer the flower spikes, covered with small lavender double-lobed blossoms, produce copious nectar eagerly sought by bees, yielding a light honey. Grows in full sun or light shade. Medicinally used for cough, fevers, wounds, diarrhea. The soft, anise-scented leaves are used as a seasoning, as a tea, and in potpourri. Perennial. Ht 90cm
